Addressing The Rumor Mill: Is A Recession On The Way?
I'm sure most of you have heard whispers in the media about a possible recession. With the stock market’s recent 800-point drop in a single day and talk of the trade war with China, you’re probably curious if the rumors are true. This week, I decided to talk with a couple financial advisers and get their thoughts on all things “recession” and despite popular belief, none of them believed we’re heading into a recession and claimed while we may see some ups and downs in the next year, they believe the overall economy will remain strong.
As an experienced professional who works everyday in an industry that comprises one of our country’s economic pillars, it’s my prediction that the housing industry will also remain strong. While I don’t think clients should expect big appreciation over the next year, the appreciation we’ve seen over the last twelve months has gone up just under 1%, with homes in the $600K+ range taking the biggest hit in appreciation. This is no reason to panic however! The shifts we're seeing in the Portland market are in fact moving us toward a healthier, more sustainable real estate market.

The Wonder Of Miracles: I Want To Hear Yours!
This month, my wife and I watched a movie called “Breakthrough”. Based on a true story, this movie follows a young man’s life after he experiences a devastating accident on a frozen lake. During the film, which I’ll admit I cried in multiple times, I got to thinking about the wonder of miracles. Something truly miraculous can happen in your life or in the life of someone you care for at any moment, and even when all hope seems lost, it reminded me to always keep believing.
